Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition 2024:

Call for applications now open, applications until 21 March 2024.

After the positive outcome of the first edition of the Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition in 2023, the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City of Bologna renew their commitment to support the project of an artistic residency spread across the six cultural districts of the metropolitan area. Originating from the innovative experience of the Nuovo Forno del Pane, promoted in 2020 by MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna to support the artistic community during the Covid-19 emergency by offering them a space for research and production, the Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor will once again this year give the six candidates, selected through public notice, the opportunity to develop individual and shared artistic projects interacting with the territory in which they will be hosted.

Artists aged between 18 and 35, domiciled in Italy, without citizenship or residency constraints, with a recent and documented activity in the field of contemporary visual arts, are invited to participate in the selection for the Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition 2024: the publication of the notice is scheduled for Monday 19 February 2024, the day from which, starting at 12 noon, the relevant telematic participation form can be filled in. The notice is available at the following link, on the website of the Municipality of Bologna, in the section Bandi ed Avvisi Pubblici (www.comune.bologna.it), on the MAMbo website, in the News section (www.mambo-bologna.org).

You may send your application, with all the required documentation, no later than 12 noon on Thursday 21 March 2024.

The artists will be selected on the basis of the documentation submitted; particular weight will be given to the portfolio, the motivational letter and the project idea, which will be evaluated on the basis of feasibility, originality and impact of the proposal on the metropolitan cultural system.

Applications will be examined by a Commission chaired by the Head of the Modern and Contemporary Art Area of the Bologna Civic Museums Sector and composed of expert members from within the MAMbo staff.

The selected artists will be offered a work space in which to operate, according to the procedures envisaged by each institution, between 29 April and 28 July 2024, within the following structures identified in the Municipalities of the Bologna metropolitan area Istituzione Villa Smeraldi - Museo della Civiltà Contadina in Bentivoglio (Pianura Est Cultural District); Fienili del Campiaro in Grizzana Morandi (Montagna Cultural District); Casa Quadrilumi in Imola (Imolese Cultural District); INAF-OAS/Astronomical Station in Loiano (Savena-Idice Cultural District); Casa Vallarmà in Madonna di Rodiano, Valsamoggia (Reno Lavino Samoggia Cultural District); Nives Storci's decoration studio in Sant'Agata Bolognese (Pianura Ovest Cultural District).

Each selected artist or collective will be guaranteed accommodation in the reference municipalities and will be granted an incentive of 3,000 euro gross for the start-up of research and possible production activities.
